Saté Sauce - Peanut Sauce
1 cup of Peanut butter
1 tablespoon of Fresh Ground Ginger
1 teaspoon of Sambal Oelek (Chili Sauce)
1 tablespoon of Fresh Lemon
1 teaspoon of Djintan (Ground Cumin)
1 teaspoon of Ketoembar (Ground Coriander)
1 teaspoon of Laos (Ground Galangal) (optional)
1 tablespoon of Brown Sugar or Cane Sugar
1 cup Water
1 tablespoon Sweet Soya Sauce (not on Ekadasi)
For 4 persons
Time: 10 minutes
1 tablespoon of Sunflower Oil
The following ingredients are optional and can also be replaced with
2 Teaspoons Garam Masala
Half a teaspoon of Ground Nutmeg
Half a teaspoon of Ground Cloves
Half a teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon or Cinnamon Powder
Half a teaspoon of Ground Turmeric or Turmeric Powder
Half a teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
Half a teaspoon Ground Mustard Seeds (not on Ekadasi)
Heat the Sunflower Oil in a thick sauce pan. Add the Ground Ginger and fry for 2 minutes, add the other spices, and fry for 30 seconds. Add the Peanut Butter and fry for 5 minutes. Add the water, and stir. Add the Lemon Juice, Soya Sauce and Sugar. Stir until smooth.
Serve with Boiled Rice (not on Ekadasi) and Steamed (10 minutes) Carrots and Cauliflower, and Fresh Chopped Red Paprika, Tomato and Cucumber.
